There are 2 family-friendly ski areas to choose from in the Saalachtal valley:
The Almenwelt Lofer ski area offers a total of 46 kilometres of runs at an altitude of 1400 m in varying degrees of difficulty! 10 modern lifts and gondolas whisk you safely to the starting point of the dream runs. The 8-person chair-lift with seat heating, weather protection and child harnesses offers special comfort.
The “Lofi Funline” ensures fun and action with many exciting rails and jumps. Little snow bunnies will feel particularly great in the fun children’s area with magic carpet and will playfully take their first turns with plenty of fun.
Do you want to learn to ski or improve your technique? Then put your trust in the team from Skischule Herbst, which also offers the newest ski equipment and snowboards for rental.
And even "non-skiers” will have plenty of fun in the Almenwelt Lofer, perhaps with snow-tubing, a winter hike or while Nordic skiing on the high trail!
In the Heutal ski area in Unken, snow is guaranteed and it is located between 1000 and 1600 metres in elevation. Since it's rarely crowded and is very easy to overlook, it's extremely popular with families. And there are also slopes with varying degrees of difficulty, but primarily suitable for beginners and advanced skiers.
If you don't yet know how to ski, you can learn with the professional help of the local ski schools. And ski and snowboard lessons are offered for children.
The Heutal ski area also offers a fantastic high-altitude trail, that is a true secret tip among Nordic skiers. Enjoy the silence and glittering snow surrounding you. The Heutal is also extremely popular with ski tour fans. Routes in the free terrain are offered and those that run parallel to the slopes.
